This Sunday, July 9th, is the annual ICC Sevathon. Hosted by the Indian Community Center, the Sevathon is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s famous Salt March in 1930, during which Gandhi walked 240 miles across villages, towns, and unpaved roads of India to protest the British-imposed salt tax. It was the most significant organized challenge to the oppressive economic policies of the British Empire and it is historically significant especially because of its focus on the principle of “ahimsa,” or nonviolence.
Appropriately so, the “seva” in Sevathon means “service.” Pick your cause and support it by walking/running a 5k, 10k, or half-marathon. You can also participate in a yogathon or a danceathon, and this event also features a food festival, concert, and prize booths. This year, SAAFBA is proud to be a participating partner. Help us reach our goals of 25 runners!
